Job Description

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an experienced journalist to lead its Turkey coverage as bureau chief, at a time of historic change in this strategically important nation.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering big stories that resonate for our readers, and a track record of reporting across the political, security and business spectrum. Turkey is navigating a period of enormous change, a year after a failed coup that shook the nation and left its democratic traditions under threat. The country is a key player in the fight against ISIS and the EU refugee crisis and America's NATO ally. Turkish President Erdogan’s policies are being being closely watched in the west.

 

We are looking for an ambitious reporter and writer who can deliver impactful stories across our platforms while also editing the bureau's small team. A proven ability to source and navigate complex political crosswinds in covering the Turkish government, as well as an ability to explain the broad, geopolitical story are key attributes.

 

The chief will work closely with peers around the region and with editors in London and New York. Strong Turkish language skills are a distinct advantage.
